LOGAN BEARD
is a photographer from North Carolina, currently based in Athens, Georgia. He began his career as a graphic designer, but after pivoting to photography, he received his BFA in photography from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. He spent his college years working with the school’s football team as both a designer and photographer. Logan chases emotion and serenity while capturing sports, turning the buzz of action into fine art, while also humanizing athletes in a culture of idolization. Outside of athletics, his photography invokes feelings of nostalgia and groundedness by implementing depth and scale. Achieving depth is always a goal in Logan’s graphic design work, which is why his photography accomplishes the same, seeing the world in terms of focal planes, foregrounds, and backgrounds. Due to the fragility of memory, the slippery passage of time, and the retroflective importance of single moments, Logan’s photography has grown into a form of documentation and beautification of the seemingly boring and possibly important things in life.
